The partners of FIBRE4YARDS have launched the design and engineering for vessel production improvement.

The activities have been focused on two modular ship designs. On one side, CFD analyses for obtaining real dynamic pressures have been performed, and used for preliminary static FEM simulations on a full 3D model of the patrol boat (including the original FRP structure). On the other side, design challenges have been discussed for the catamaran vessel, as for example the adaptation of the curved panels, so that they can be produced taking into account the curved molds technology requirements and tolerances.

Project demonstrators have also received a lot of attention, as the actual design is being already discussed with the technology providers.

In the next steps, the partners will concentrate on the verification of the numerical procedures under development (by comparison with the actual physical tests of materials samples and parts), as well as on the next iterations over the vessels' designs, which will also count on the valuable collaboration of the shipyard and the Classification Society. ​
